Doing Solar Business in the UK is a programme bringing together executives from the global solar industry focusing on opportunities within the UK market.
The generous UK feed-in tariff (FiT) came into effect on April 1st 2010. IMS research predicts that the UK market will see new installations in 2011 reach 250MW compared to the 22MW installed in 2009. Managed correctly, the UK market for solar power could grow in line with the German market of 10 years ago.
The UK government has aggressive renewable energy targets for 2020 and the FiT marks the first serious step in addressing the demand for micro-generation technologies in the UK, including PV.
Doing Solar Business in the UK will bring together key stakeholders to accelerate the maturation of the UK solar marketplace. Particular focus will be placed on inviting companies with existing strategies for large-scale implementation of solar in the UK.

Rocco Forte Collection - The Charles Hotel Munich
Address: Sophienstrasse 28, 80333 Munich, Germany
Set in the tranquil Botanical gardens in the Stachus district, the hotel is only a short walk or metro ride from these attractions, as well as being just half an hour from Munich's Franz-Josef-Strauss Airport and a five minute walk to the central train station.
This one-day seminar will detail the opportunities available to international manufacturers to supply products to the rapidly emerging UK solar market. The event will also provide a platform for UK distributors and installers to develop new relationships with foreign suppliers to service the UK market.
In Germany the number of installations increased from 40 MW installed to 850 MW in the six years following after the introduction of the Feed-in-Tariff in 2000.
We believe it is highly likely the UK will follow such a growth pattern.

"Doing Solar Business in the UK is an important step in reducing costs throughout the solar supply chain. The implementation of a micro-generation feed in tariff scheme shows that the UK takes renewable power generation obligations seriously."
- The Rt Hon Lord Mandelson (March 2010)
First Secretary of State, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation & Skills and Lord President of the Council
Ray Noble is the UK Renewable Energy Association's (REA) solar photovoltaic specialist and the managing director of Consultancy Solar BIPV Ltd. He has assisted the UK Government in the development of its PV strategy and now sits on the MCS Steering group and MCS PV working group. Before joining the REA, Ray was director of a building engineering group at Arup; he also spent seven years as the UK manager of BP Solar developing and demonstrating BP Solar products on buildings.
As a result of his previous employment, Ray formed close links with the UK Government, creating the BP Solar/Romag partnership in order to develop and manufacture BIPV products. Ray has also been involved in many other solar PV initiatives including the design of many of the UK and Europe's large BIPV demonstration projects and the creation of NaREC PV Technology Laboratories in Northumberland. Ray continues to work with PV, and joins PV-Tech on its mission to introduce other countries to the UK solar market.
All conference proceedings, handouts and materials will be in English.

Kingspan are global leaders in the design and manufacture of insulated roof, architectural wall and façade systems that offer designers and architects unlimited choice to create energy-efficient buildings that deliver 'signature' architectural and aesthetic impact. At the forefront of innovation, Kingspan has created a revolutionary yet simple insulated panel system which not only provides the proven high performance features of an insulated panel, but also generates renewable energy in the form of solar air heating. Kingspan EnergiPanel is like no other insulated panel system and is designed for roof and wall applications as a supplement to the main heating system. EnergiPanel Roof and Wall Systems Solar energy is collected simply by using the outer steel skin as a solar energy absorber and incorporating profiled hollows beneath the crowns to facilitate air movement up through the panel. EnergiPanel is a low cost, reliable renewable energy source that provides rapid payback on investment - Kingspan's large scale test facilities have shown that heating cost can be reduced by up to 20%.
